Remember that teacher you had in third grade who chastised you for not completely closing the “O” when writing the numeral zero? Making it look like “6” or “9” or “0”; irregardless it was indecipherable.
And this was during some sort of jelly bean counting contest/science experiment when you went to write results on the blackboard. The thrill of writing on the board quickly diminished when the illegibility of your numeral made the contest/experiment conclusion different. The illegible numeral was called out, not you luckily. But that was no consolation.
This incident not only instilled a lack of confidence in the public appearance of your handwriting, but also made you question your ability to properly write on the board every time you were asked to for the next decade and a half.
