Do you read wedding blogs? Oh, you don’t? I’m so glad. Because if you did, you would realize that all weddings take place in fields. And barns. Or open meadows. And seeing images post after post (Style Me Pretty, I’m looking in YOUR general direction) of beautifully styled outdoor weddings, it makes the photographic limitations of a 100 year old church and restaurant reception obvious.

I’m a city girl, having a wedding in the city.

Photography is the most important investment for July 23. I’m looking for a mix of photojournalism and fine art photography. I want detail shots that look like they came out of an Anthropologie catalog. I’m the girl that takes photos of her plated dinner before she eats it at a restaurant, remember?

Below are three snapshots from recent weddings I love. I understand that a photographer can only take beautiful photos if there is something beautiful to photograph. I’m working on that part too.

Colleen and Kirk

Colleen lives in D.C., but was married in Indiana. I met her this past spring at a WedddingBee meetup (shut up). Her wedding was done by Heidi at Our Labor of Love.

Here’s a link to her SMP feature and a slideshow of her day.
